Quick update as things start moving! I just sent out support letters to local businesses — definitely a new experience for me, but also exciting. It’s not always easy to ask for help, but I believe in this trip and the impact it can have, and I’m hopeful some businesses in the community will come alongside it.
In the meantime, I’ve been looking into the different supplies I need to get. While in Pittsburgh a few days ago my friend and I went to an outdoors store to look at their hiking backpacks. We looked for front loading, internal frame, 35-45 liter backpacks. Who knew finding all of that in one backpack would be such a mission? I’m looking for something durable, comfortable, and not too bulky — it has to fit all my belongings for 3 months!. We had no luck in the store, but did find a great one online. Figuring out what I need to bring has been a big task. I look at the packing list, then to my list, then to the packing list again to make sure I’m not forgetting anything. I know I will be doing a lot of fine-tuning before the trip. But it has been fun actually starting to plan things out for the trip!
The trip itself is coming up at the end of August, and I’m headed to Italy and Albania. Just saying that feels surreal. I can already imagine the scenery, the culture, the people, and the way God is going to use us— and I know He is going to stretch me in all the right ways. I’m excited for the adventure and grateful for every person supporting me and looking forward to what the Lord has for everyone on the trip!
Thank you for being part of this journey — whether it’s through encouragement, advice, or simply reading along.
